Planning Process

The Barangaroo Delivery Authority's role is to guide the future development of Barangaroo and ensure the best outcome occurs for the people of New South Wales.

The Authority does not assess or approve planning applications, this is undertaken independently by the NSW Department of Planning and the Minister for Planning.  Barangaroo is a gazetted State Significant Site.

A range of project applications will be submitted by the Barangaroo Delivery Authority and Lend Lease over the life of the project.

On 16 June 2011, the NSW Government introduced a Bill into the Parliament to repeal Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (the EP&A Act) and replace it with an alternative system for the assessment of projects of genuine State significance.

Information regarding these changes can be found on the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure website.
